The Young researcher’s office
Missions & actions
The Society for Neuroscience created the Young Researcher’s Office with the aim of participating in the training of Young Researchers.
The office’s mission is to guide young neuroscientists in their careers, inform them, and debate societal issues related to research.
To this end,the Young Researcher’s Office organizes special sessions at the NeuroFrance meeting which address themes put forward the Young Researcher community: how to build a research team, how to pursue a career in academia, research outside the university, the enrivonmental impact of research, diversity and equality, and so on.
Building on the success of these sessions, NeuroMentoring sessions are organized 3-4 times a year. These remote sessions are open to all French Neuroscience Society members, both in France and abroad. These sessions take the form of round-table discussions, with contributions from board members and external speakers.
Join the Young Researcher’s office
Supervised by Laure Verret and Emmanuel Perisse, the Young Researcher’s office meets around 6 times a year by videoconference to choose the themes for future sessions, select speakers and plan each session.
Each session is organized by 2-3 thesis students and/or post-docs. The organization of each session enables them to acquire knowledge on al the themes addressed, as well as on the organization of scientific events.
Being part of the Young Researcher’s Office also enable them to develop a network within french and foreign neuroscience research.
For NeuroFrance, each special session will be organized and moderated on the day by a group of 2-3 PhD students and/or post-docs. This experience, which also serves to train future french neuroscientists, can also be promoted by certain french doctoral schools.
The Young Researcher’s Office is therefore calling on all thesis students and post-docs, members of the French Neuroscience Society, to join them.
Please contact Laure Verret and Emmanuel Perisse indicating:
- your status (PhD student or post-doc)
- your laboratory
- the name of your supervisor or laboratory director
The next NeuroMentoring session will take place at the beginning of July, and we’re looking forward to welcoming new members at our next meeting on Monday May 6, 2024 at 1pm.
