The 2023 edition of the Sleep Congress organized by SFRMS and SPLF will take place in Lille from November 22 to 24.

The congress brings together experts from a wide range of disciplines to discuss and exchange ideas on innovations in normal and pathological sleep research, diagnosis, management and treatment.

As every year, the event features: 4 plenary lectures, 11 symposia, 1 news session, 3 symposia on fundamental sleep research, 8 practical workshops, satellite conferences and workshops, themed meetings, the presentation of several grants and prizes, over 80 exhibitors including the Sleep Village, the Start-up Village, the Networks and Training Area, the morning session of the French Society of Sleep Technicians (SFTS)…

New in 2023: 1 session on the latest SFRMS recommendations, 1 session on New Research and Young Researchers, a dedicated area for presentations and exchanges around oral communications and e-posters, 1 workshop for Young Researchers.

THE SLEEP CONGRESS® is a hybrid event: 100% face-to-face and 100% virtual. Participants can attend face-to-face and/or remotely, and view the sessions offline until May 31, 2024.

In parallel, on Wednesday November 22, before the opening of the Congress, the SFRMS Autumn Training sessions will take place.

ITMO I3M, NNP and the Scientific Committee invite you to attend the Virus & Brain workshop on November 20, 2023 at PariSanté Campus.

Research in recent years has shown that the neurological consequences of infections go far beyond encephalitis. Against this backdrop, the ITMOs Immunology, Inflammation, Infectiology and Microbiology (I3M) and Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Neurology and Psychiatry (NNP) are organizing a brainstorming workshop, inviting specialists in virology, inflammation and brain pathologies at both fundamental and clinical levels.

The aim of the workshop is to bring together experts in these fields, and to identify key areas of research for the future.

Studying synapse function and plasticity is key to understanding brain circuits that underlie behaviour, and to identify synaptic malfunction mechanisms underpinning brain diseases. This course will allow students to integrate theoretical and methodological concepts on synapse biology with hands-on experience on state-of-the art imaging, functional and computational methodologies. The course provides an in-depth understanding to many concepts such as synapse formation and maintenance, pre- and postsynaptic mechanisms, structural and functional synaptic plasticity, synaptic integration in neuronal networks and synaptopathies. Hands-on experimental projects conducted in small groups with the support of senior scientists will expose the students to methodologies at the forefront of research in this field.

On Thursday, September 14, 2023, the Fondation Vaincre Alzheimer will present the very first French report from the world of associations on the state of medical research into Alzheimer’s disease and its prospects for hope.

Dr. Frédéric Checler, Director of Research at Inserm, and Prof. Julien Dumurgier, Associate Professor of Neurology at Lariboisière Hospital, will present an overview of medical research into Alzheimer’s disease in France and around the world: from current and future avenues of research to the latest promising results of new drug treatments.

Quelles questions éthiques pour les technologies émergentes ?

À l’occasion de son webinaire prévu le mardi 12 septembre prochain de 11h à 12h, Hervé Chneiweiss présentera les travaux du centre d’éthique de l’INSERM concernant les questions éthiques soulevées par les diverses technologies émergentes apparues dans le champ du vivant ces dernières années, telles que : médecine génomique, édition du génome, neurotechnologies, données massives, intelligence artificielle, organoïdes et nouveaux modèles expérimentaux, innovation thérapeutique. Comment ces nouveaux outils renouvellent les questions de l’autonomie, de la vulnérabilité, de la justice, de la responsabilité individuelle, du respect de la vie privée, et celles relatives à nos devoirs vis-à-vis de notre environnement et des générations futures ? Comment les travaux menés dans ces domaines au sein des laboratoires de l’Inserm permettent-ils une recherche et une innovation responsables ? Comment, collectivement, pouvons-nous alimenter le débat public autour de l’usage de ces technologies émergentes ?
