Neurobiology of sleep in large desert mammals, the camel and the Moroccan black goat

Directeur de thèse : Khalid El Allali
Lieu de thèse : Comparative Anatomy Unit, Hassan II Institute of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine – Rabat – Maroc

My research focuses on the neurobiology of sleep in two desert species, the dromedary and the Moroccan goat. I use behavioral and non-invasive polysomnographic methods (electroencephalography, electrooculography and electromyography) to characterize sleep and identify different rest/sleep postures, both in the wild (desert) and in captivity, throughout the year. As well as the use of classical histology, immunohistochemistry or immunofluorescence techniques to study the neuroanatomy of sleep and reveal the different sleep structures and their neuro-peptidergic content in these species.

Chronic Colitis-Induced Memory and Behavioral Deficit Via Mitochondria Dysfunction, Apoptosis, Plaque Formation, Oxidative stress and Alteration of WntSignaling, AMPK and mTORPathway in Balb/c Mice Brain

Directeur de thèse : Olatunde Farombi
Lieu de thèse : Drug Metabolism and Molecular Toxicology – Ibadan – NIGERIA

My research interests are in the areas of neuro-gastroenterology. I utilize a pathway based approach to gain a better understanding of the basic mechanisms underlying gut-brain axis connection in Neurodegenerative diseases and Neuro-oncology using research tools such as high throughput genomic/proteomic analyses, CRISPR/CAS 9 genome editing, live imaging, fluorescence western blotting, ELISA, RT-PCR, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence and flow cytometry analysis to unravel the molecular pathway involved in gastrointestinal inflammation induced neurodegenerative disease so as to feed basic research results back to the society in a bench to bedside approach.
