An adequate gender balance among speakers is also required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Symposia may focus on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A&nbsp;theme of general interest&nbsp;to a discipline group.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A&nbsp;transversal topic&nbsp;interesting a broader audience and several disciplines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A&nbsp;methodology or an emerging technique.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A topic of a&nbsp;club affiliated to the French Neuroscience Society, a GDR,&nbsp;an educational program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A specific theme sponsored by, or organized with, another French or foreign scientific society.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Proposals whose topic has already been presented at the previous meeting of the French Neuroscience Society will not be considered, unless they focus on new scientific aspects (to be justified in the symposium description).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>B \u2013 SYMPOSIA FORMAT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>All symposia have a total duration of 2 hours.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A regular symposium includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A brief introductory overview by the chairperson is required to provide non-specialist attendees with essential background information. This should include key concepts, the rationale behind the topic, and\/or any relevant controversies (approximately 5 minutes in length).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4 scientific presentations of 20 minutes (+ 5 min for questions) each given by the speakers or 3 presentations and a roundtable discussion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>15 minutes devoted to a young researcher&rsquo;s presentation selected among the abstracts submitted in January 2027. The symposium chairpersons participate in the final selection of this additional talk.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Special symposia organized by clubs, GDR or other scientific societies&nbsp;may include between 4 and 6 speakers but cannot last more than 2 hours in total.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>C \u2013 CHOICE OF CHAIRPERSONS AND SPEAKERS<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A symposium chairperson at the 2025 meeting cannot chair a symposium in 2027,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A speaker at the 2025 meeting cannot be a speaker at the 2027 meeting,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Members of the Local Organizing Committee can be speakers at NeuroFrance 2027 (unless they were already speakers in 2025)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The President(s) of the Local Organizing Committee cannot participate in the NeuroFrance 2027 program,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Members of the Scientific Committee can neither be chairperson nor speaker in a symposium at NeuroFrance 2027 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.neurosciences.asso.fr\/SN27\/a-propos\/comite-local\/\" type=\"page\" id=\"2211\">see the Committee members lists<\/a>), <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Each person may only participate in one session during NeuroFrance 2027 (with the exception of special sessions),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A symposium can be chaired by one or two persons. Chairpersons may also be speakers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To find names of chairpersons or speakers of the previous meeting, <a href=\"https:\/\/nf2025.abstractserver.com\/program\/#\/program\/1\/horizontal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">check the 2025 program using the search option<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Recommendations for speakers<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gender balance must be respected.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Geographic (i.e. different laboratories) as well as career stage diversity (not all senior\/junior speakers) will be considered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It may be interesting to involve speakers working abroad. The French Neuroscience Society nevertheless recommends having at least two speakers working in France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Consent<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proposed symposium speakers must have given their consent for their participation if selected. Their agreement is an engagement to participate if the proposal is selected (see the&nbsp;<strong>Agreement<\/strong>&nbsp;section).&nbsp;<br>The same person can be proposed in several proposals, but if accepted, this person can only take part in one symposium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>D &#8211; PREPARATION OF A PROPOSAL<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Language<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Symposium proposals must be submitted in English and speakers will give their presentations in English at the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The description shall:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Define the objective and the scientific content of the proposed symposium, and the topics (domains) related to it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Justify the choice of the participants and their scientific quality.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Present the innovative and scientific interest in an international research context.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Explain the chosen format (number of speakers, roundtable\u2026)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The form to be completed for each participant (chairpersons and speakers) is presented at the end of these guidelines. Incomplete proposals will not be considered by the Scientific Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Submit and edit a proposal<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All proposals must be submitted online between\u00a0<strong>11 March and 24 April 2026 <\/strong>(included).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The corresponding chairperson is in charge of all correspondence with the French Neuroscience Society. There is only one corresponding chairperson even if there are two chairpersons for a symposium.<br>At the end of the submission, the corresponding chairperson receives a proposal number and access code to edit or modify the proposal until the submission deadline. No modifications will be accepted after the deadline.&nbsp;<br>A receipt without the access codes is sent to the other participants, giving them the possibility to view the proposal but not to edit it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Access codes must be used by the corresponding chairperson only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>E \u2013 IMPORTANT DATES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Timeline<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>11 March<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>2026<\/strong>: Call for symposium proposals opens<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>24 April 2026<\/strong>: Call for symposium proposals closes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>June 2026:<\/strong>\u00a0Symposia selection<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 2026:<\/strong>&nbsp;Program announcement<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>January 2027 till the meeting:<\/strong>&nbsp;Registration open<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>January 2027:<\/strong>&nbsp;Abstract submission with the possibility for young researchers to apply for a short presentation in a symposium (abstracts submitted after January 2027 will be selected for poster presentation).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>February 2027:<\/strong>&nbsp;selection of additional short presentations by the Scientific committee, in agreement with the symposia chairpersons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>F &#8211; FUNDING<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The French Neuroscience Society does <strong>NOT<\/strong> cover registration fees nor travel \/ living expenses of symposium chairpersons and speakers. However, the Society has chosen to promote the participation of foreign speakers and young researchers through incentive actions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Free registration for all speakers <strong>working abroad<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assignment of a number of travel grants to students &amp; post-docs to attend the meeting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reduced registration fees for student &amp; post-doc members.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Symposium organizers are encouraged to seek sources of funding if they wish to directly support the expenses of their speakers. If you submit a proposal, make sure all your partners are aware of these conditions.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a><\/a><strong>H \u2013 AGREEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By submitting a proposal, the applicant acknowledges having read and accepted the following conditions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Regarding funding<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>See above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Regarding participation<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The proposal must comply with the ethical rules for scientific research in general, and especially for human and animal research.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Scientific Committee will not consider incomplete proposals or proposals involving the participation of ineligible persons (see section \u00ab&nbsp;Choice of chairpersons and speakers&nbsp;\u00bb).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Each proposed participant has agreed to the proposal and is committed to participate to the meeting if accepted. Therefore, speakers accept the conditions of participation as defined by the French Neuroscience Society.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Scientific Committee may require modifications regarding the speakers or subjects before final acceptance of the proposal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Scientific Committee may reject any change to a proposal once it has been accepted, and reserves the right to reject any proposal that would no longer correspond to the approved proposal.
